Talega Golf Club, located in the hills of San Clemente set above the “Spanish Village by the Sea,” is truly one of the best golf experiences in Southern California. Established in 2001, Talega features an 18-hole, par 72 Fred Couples “Signature” championship golf course in Orange County ranked America’s Top Golf Course.
The course is located in the hills above San Clemente, just three miles from the Pacific Ocean. The 6,951-yard par 72 is certainly a championship test with several difficult par 3s and par 5s. The signature Couples design has five of each, so there is great variety. The fifth hole is a 228-yard par 3 that plays mostly over water and is a candidate for one of Talega’s signature holes. Another possibility for the prettiest hole is the finishing hole, the par-4 18th, with an approach that plays over the lake to a green well guarded by bunkers. The course has lots of elevation change, mountain views and elevated greens that make each hole unique. In addition to the golf course, Talega, which is open to the public.

Today I came near San Clemente again for Juneteenth holiday golf. Narrow fairway course, almost holes have the heavy bush at both right and left, I lost 3 balls here. Tee shot at No. 15 and 16 is completely hidden fairway, we didn’t find which we should direct. And No.18 is the signature hall, and pin-point route and island green. To be honest, I think $110 play fee is expensive here, lawn condition and facility is normal public course level. Not-bad course, however I feel cost performance is not good if I compare with other course.
