Basic Information
The Ojai Valley Inn’s golf course traces its Golden Age architecture to California legends Billy Bell and George C. Thomas Jr., who designed Riviera, Bel-Air and Los Angeles country clubs. It’s location 75 miles north of L.A. in the Topa Topa Mountains has always been a magnet for Hollywood celebrities like Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Will Smith and Kevin Costner. Famous pros such as Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Chi Chi Rodriguez and Ben Crenshaw competed at Ojai in seven Senior PGA Tour events at two other EMC2 Golf Skill Challenges. The world-class Ojai Country Club was one of the first great golf courses in Southern California. Designed and originally built in 1923 under the direction of George C. Thomas, Jr. and Billy Bell, the course was hailed as “a marvel of golfing architecture.” Thomas, who also designed courses at the Riviera, Bel-Air and Los Angeles country clubs, had two initial considerations for the Ojai course. The par 70 layout only stretches to 6,305 yards, but with six par 4s longer than 400 yards and three par 3s more than 200 yards, it’s no pushover thanks a redesign by Jay Morrish in 1988. The addition of two original “lost holes” brought back to life in 1999 has restored Ojai to its classic roots.

Here is good condition and maintained green, course difficulty is intermediate level, however player need to take care of strong wind and Up & Down slope. We can enjoy the golf with beautiful mountains and canyon view. 30 mins advanced arrival is mandatory here because of long walking distance between car parking and club house. This golf course is one of facility in Ojay Valley Inn (hotel stay). Usually only hotel guests can book the tee time here, but I could find the available tee time today because of off season, and arranged the reasonable play fee ($130). A little expensive than other general public course, but I’m satisfied the valuable experience.
44 46 90… This is the 1st tee off in 2022. Not bad score even I didn’t play last 2 months. I had back pain, still have but being be better.
